My large-scale portrait paintings are inspired by the faces of movie stars and celebrities. As a graphic designer by trade, my style has a very graphic quality. After a career in graphic design, I now focus entirely on portrait painting. I am fascinated by faces, especially the eyes, so I always start a painting the eyes first and build out from there. The eyes are crucial, as the painting must feel like it's looking back at me. Though I have a few paintings with sunglasses, most are without. I work in acrylics on canvas, as I enjoy the medium's fast drying time. I approach each painting as a design, carefully composing and selecting colors before I begin. My canvases are large with vibrant hues, reflecting my love of bold colors. The art is in deciding what details to exclude and include just enough to capture the essence of my subject. My portraits are often black, white and grey with a single colorful background. Though recently, I've been experimenting with more color within the portraits themselves while maintaining a black and white base.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of James Bond, I created a series of portraits depicting the various Bond actors.
